Today I learned about Jesus the Good Shepherd:
This morning we talked more about what a shepherd is and what they do. A shepherd leads sheep to green pastures to eat, to still waters to drink, protects them, he tends to their wounds, is their door to their sheepfold and lives among them. The sheep know their shepherd's voice and follow him. We talked about how we are like sheep - we get lost easily and we cannot save ourselves. Our good shepherd, unlike the hired hand, did not run from a scary situation (the cross) (Heb. 12:2). Jesus laid down his life to save us, his sheep (John 10:11) and he did it while we were lost sinners (Rom. 5:8).
